TKAM #1

We get to know Scout during the first few chapters of To Kill a Mockingbird. Scout has a lot of trouble on her first day of school and she doesn't get along with her teacher, Miss Caroline. When Scout is upset about school, Atticus gives her some advice for dealing with the situation. He says, "...if you can learn a simple trick, Scout, you'll really get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... until you climb into his skin and walk around in it."

Do you agree or disagree with Atticus' advice? Why? What can you tell about Atticus (as a father and as a person) by his statement? What other advice would you give Scout?

Question 2 Thoughts on Humanity

Personally, in my opinion, people are self-centered. I mean people care about other people, but when it comes down to the end they think about themselves first and what's going to better themselves. Like in The Most Dangerous Game, Rainsford only cares about himself, an example of that would be that he shot the animals and didn't care because it pleased him. In the Cask of Amontillado, Fortunado baries a person alive, because he does't like him so he is putting himself first just because of a silly thing. In that case I do believe people put themselves first. In my personal life, in elementry school this girl stole this eraser type thing from this girl, because she wanted the eraser. She never admitted that she stole it, she just said that she bought one just like it even though it was the exact same one that the other girl had. So she put herself first and took that eraser even though we all kew it wasn't hers. People usually put themselves first even if they have to lie about it.

Hero?

A Hero is not just someone who saves the day. A Hero can be someone who people or a person looks up to or even just a good person who does no wrong and makes the right decision. The qualifications of Hero doesn`t always have to be about strength and powers, but someone who is intelligent, trustworthy, wise, friendly, and helpful. Hero can change over time from being good to bad or bad to good. This is my definition of a Hero and the qualifications of a Hero.

HEROES

My definition of a "Hero" is some one who does good things or has done good things. A hero is kind, good hearted, respectful, courageous etc. They will risk their lives for anyone or anything. The definition changes over time, many people do good things that are better than what someone else has done. This makes the new "Hero" better and make the expectations higher to be a "Hero".

Hero Question

My definition of a hero is one who would help somebody or do anything for somone. They're there for that person(s) at all times and save them in whatever they can. A hero has the ability to be nice and not get frustrated when helping or saving someone. Well, back in the day they thought of heros as people helping them or something like that, and today most people right away think of superheros, like superman or spiderman etc.

Hero

My definition of a hero is someone who has always helped you out when you need it. I think a hero is someone who has always been there for you and would do anything for you. A hero should be a person you can look up to. My hero's are people I can look up to. A hero should have the charactersitics of kind, helpful, and caring. You should be able to trust a hero with anything. They should be able to keep you secrets.

Hero Question

My definition of a hero is someone who somebody admires or looks up to. Some qualities and characteristics that a hero has are being brave, and believing in themselves and others. I think the definition of a hero changes over time, because everybody has different expectations for a hero, and everybody also has a different definition of what a hero means to them. Since everybody changes over time I think everybody would have a different definition over time of a hero.

Hero Questions

My definition of a hero is someone who helps another person or organism. A hero would just have to be someone who helps and they are usually good natured. A hero can definitely change over time for the better or for the worse.

Hero question response

Well my deffintintion of a hero is someone you can look up to, someone that you will be able to trust, someone who will be there for you through the good and bad times. A hero to me is a person who you can think very highly of and know that you can count on. A hero has the strength to learn from their mistakes and teach others to have that strength. Heros have a sense of bravery that you can see. A hero can be anyone at all its just a matter of whether or not you willing to show it. Even if they dont know it everyone is a hero to someone.

Question #2

My definitin of a hero is a protagonist. A hero is brave, wise, and learns through experience. He or she is skillfull, and has lots of courage. The definition of a hero does not change, but the hero himself does. A hero will learn, and correct mistakes. A hero always does the right thing, no matter what. A hero is helpful towards other people, and he is not selfish at all. A hero will always stand for what's right and does not support what's evil.

CLASS QUESTION- HEROES

The word hero holds a lot of meaning to me. It can range from that nice guy who held the door open for me when I couldn't open it, or someone the I know that is going through a very hard time and is still holding their head up high. Being a hero means being caring to oghters, giving, friendly, and confident in the person that they are. Those are a lot of qualities to have to live up to. I believe that the definition of a hero can definetly change over time. For example, when I was younger, my favorite hero was Superman. However, if you asked me today who my hero was, I would say my mom. A hero is a word with a lot of meaning that is not to be taken lightly.

Hero

Hero Class Blog Question My definition of a hero is someone that no matter what would take a bullet for you or would just simply help you with your homework. Qualities that a hero may have would be brave, dependable, very caring, and confident but not cocky. This definition of hero would definetely change, because when you are a little kid a hero to you is like superman, spiderman, or hulk, etc. When you start to grow up and be a little bit more mature is when you realize that your mom maybe your hero or somebody else who isn't in the comics. Everyone has their own hero even if they don't even realize it.

Hero

The definition of a hero to me is someone that saves everyone and someone you can trust on a regular basis. That person dosent have to be strong they could be weak and a wimp while still being a hero. A hero can also be a teacher, parent, or some idol. A Hero is also someone that you can look up to for help, and someone you can ask for advice.

What is a hero?

My definition of a hero is a selfless person who does acts of kindness and doesn’t think about how the act will affect his or her life. To me the term "hero" is overrated. A hero doesn’t have to be a strong muscular person that wears tight pantyhose and a cape. No, a hero can be brilliant doctor who finds a cure for cancer and saves hundreds of thousand lives, or a hero can be just a regular person who does something worthwhile for another. All heroes’ qualities are different. For example, a hero from a comic book, like Superman, can poses qualities that make them strong, supernatural, and bold. In the real world, heroes are kind, caring everyday people who care about the welfare of others. Has the definition hero changed over time? Yes. To every person hero has a different meaning, so I believe that the definition of hero changes with each person.

Hero Question

My definition of a hero is someone who is curious, bold, strong, and willing to help others. They may not always know they are a hero for example, in the Harry Potter series, Harry didn't always know he was a hero until he learned about that school he goes to. Meeting his two best friends and their adventures helped bring out the hero in him. A hero can be anyone, even if they don't know it.

What is a Hero?

Personally, my definition of a hero is somone strong. Somone who can go through anything not physically, but emotionally. Somone who can survive anything being thrown at them. Somone who won't let their guard down. A person that can be there for themselves but for others too. Somone who is nurturing, who is kind, who is compassionate, who is intelligent, somone who understands, and somone who listens. Hero's are one in a milliion to me, this person, whom ever it is, seems perfect to me.

what is a hero?

My definition of a hero would be someone who is selfless, intelligent and excels in at lest one area of expertise. I don't think this definition changes that much because in stories and in real life these characteristics always so up in a hero.

Hero Class Blog Question

My definition of a hero is a person who helps people. They don't have to be a muscular, fictional character who flies around in a cape. That's just someone's interpretation of "hero." I think a hero can be anyone. A person at your school, your idol, your parents. I think a hero is someone who changes you in one way or another, and in doing that, helps you.
The qualities and characteristics of a hero vary with the person. A hero can be someone who's couragous or strong, or someone who's scared and weak. I suppose most people would think of a hero as a fearless person, but I think being a hero means rising above your fears and finding the strength inside you.
Yes, I think the difinition of a hero changes over time because it's something each person defines. Each person's opinion is different from another's so it will never stay the same forever.

Hero Class Blog question

My definition of a hero is someone who is heroic. What I mean by this is that they do things that don't always benefit them to help others. A hero does not have to be on t.v. or on lunch boxes. I believe that there are heroes everywhere you look, in your school and in your community. Heroes have the characteristics like bravery, strength, speed, intelligence, and good looks. Our definition of hero has changed over time. Back in the old days people thought of heroes like Superman but today we think of the Hulk, Spiderman, and Flash. The old heroes were strong and smart but today's heroes have been given super powers.

questions

p1
Most people only care about them selves, but in most story's the main character is almost always a helpful kind person and if they do start off as a selfish person then they learn to be self less though out the story. For example in The Most Dangerous Game Rainsford started off not caring if the animals he hunted had feelings then thought the story he learned that maybe animals do have feelings.

p2
I personally care bout other people some times then at other times I'm selfish it all really depends on the situation. For example if some one is injured or in trouble I'll try to help them but if There is a $20 bill siting on the ground I'm not really going to want to walk back in to the store and give it to them.

MDG/COA question.

I believe that most people care about themselves. We all want things, and make ways to get them, sometimes no matter what the cost. We like to do what will please ourselves, without thinking how it effects others. For example, in The Most Dangerous Game, Rainsford at first believes that hunting is just a game, and that animals don't feel or have a conscience. In The Cask of Amontillado, Montresor thinks Fortunato is making fun of his family, and seeks revenge without considering that Fortunato could be joking or actually not making fun of his family. Another example of selfishness would be in The Most Dangerous Game, where General Zaroff's addiction to hunting. He is so addicted he has hunted every other creature there is to hunt, and has moved on to a more "challenging or amusing" victim to hunt, humans. He doesn't consider they're feelings or well being.

I believe that most people care about themselves a lot, but try and be a "good" person or actually go through an experience to help them learn about others' feelings and well being. A real life example of this would be when I was little. Because I am really short and small, sometimes bigger older kids would try and bully me around at the park, but my big brother would always fight them off. Now, I am older and I'm thankful I still have him around to help me, but if I see someone picking on a friend of mine or an innocent person, I will stand up for them because they can't. I know how it feels to be pushed around, and most times I will let it go, depending on my mood. Sometimes I will let it go, but sometimes I will really throw it back in your face. But even so, I feel bad after for the other person.
